| Prospero on the island
For twelve years Prospero and his daughter Miranda have been shipwrecked on an island. With his books and child for company, Prospero continues to study his magic as he bends the island’s fantastical creatures to his service. “By my prescience I find my zenith doth depend upon a most auspicious star” (A1 s1), as all of Prospero’s enemies and his few friends are now at sea. With the help of Ariel he raises a terrible tempest to bring them to his shores for reckoning, retribution and forgiveness. Prospero as he appears on the island. |
